Experts: gay marriage won’t be issue in N.H.

Although New Hampshire residents express greater support for same-sex marriage than the rest of the nation, U.S. President Barack Obama’s public support of same-sex marriage is unlikely to affect general election results in the state, according to a number of experts and New Hampshire politicians. Presidential Search Committee Chair Bill Helman ’80 and Chair of the Board of Trustees Steve Mandel ’78 facilitated a discussion on Thursday night with approximately 30 students about what qualities they hope to see in the College’s next president. At the forum, which took place in Dartmouth Hall, students addressed the need for a president with knowledge of Dartmouth culture and debated the importance of the president’s engagement in student life.
